Frequently asked questions (faq)
-
Is this crossfit?
No—it’s not CrossFit. FIT is a coaching-first facility built on experience, not trends. Our programs are deliberately designed using proven principles in athletic development, strength training, and movement quality. Every session is structured, coached, and customized for progression—not randomized workouts or competition-based training. We’re not here to beat the clock—we’re here to build long-term results that actually show up on the field, in the mirror, and in your daily life.
-
What is The FIT Facility and who is it for?
FIT is a coaching-driven training facility for adults and athletes who want to look, feel, and move like athletes. We train the Every Day MVP, the middle school & high-school competitor, and the youth athlete who needs real coaching instead of guessing.
-
What makes FIT different from big-box and globogyms?
We don’t hand you a key fob and wish you luck. The FIT Facility is a coaching first facility. Every session is coached. Every program is designed by a certified/qualified professional. Every rep has a purpose. We prioritize multiplanar strength, multidirectional speed, and long-term athletic development. No purple treadmills. No judgment-free pizza nights.
-
I’ve never worked out before. Is The FIT Facility good place to start?
Absolutely. You don’t have to be “in shape” to start—our Total FITness Program meets you where you are. Our small-group coaching model ensures you’ll get the guidance you need, regardless of experience level. You’ll learn proper technique and build real, functional strength.
-
What makes The FIT Facility different from other "similar" style gyms in Florence?
FIT is different because we’re coaching-first, not workout-first. Every session is led by a highly educated coach using a proven training system built around multiplanar strength, multidirectional speed, and long-term athletic development. We don’t run random workouts or chase “tired.” We teach, correct, and build athletes and adults with a level of expertise you won’t find anywhere else in Florence.
-
What’s the Total FITness Program?
It’s our flagship small-group training system designed for adults who want to train smart and build a strong, athletic body. We combine strength training, conditioning, and movement work—plus coaching that holds you accountable and helps you progress safely.
-
Are The FIT Facility's coaches certified?
Jamie Dixon leads FIT — All-American center, D1 strength coach, Master’s in Kinesiology, CSCS, NSPA Master Coach, multiple specialty certifications, and almost a decade running the most advanced training system in the Shoals. No hobby trainers. Real pros.
-

-
Do you offer programs for kids?
Yes! Our Youth Performance Program is built for ages 9–12. It focuses on agility, movement fundamentals, coordination, and body control in a fun and engaging format. It’s the perfect entry point to long-term athletic development.
-
Do you train middle and/or high school age athletes?
Yes! We specialize in athletic development for middle school and high school athletes. From foundational strength to elite change-of-direction work, our training translates directly to the field or court. Our sessions are structured, safe, and tailored by age and sport.
-
What programs do you offer?
Total Fitness for adults.
Sports Performance for high-school athletes.
Youth Performance for ages 9 to 12.
Personal training is limited but available. -
How is your adult program (total fitness) different from Crossfit?
We don’t chase randomness or brag about how wrecked you feel after a session. We use science, structure, progression, and multiplanar athletic development. No kipping circus tricks. No “WOD roulette.”
-
How often do most adults come?
Most come three to four days a week — the sweet spot for looking and feeling athletic again without blowing up your schedule. But keep in mind, 3 is better than 2 — 2 is better than 1 — and 1 is better than 0
-
What is the fit facility's philosophy on strength and conditioning?
Build the sagittal base first. Then move into multiplanar strength and power so people actually become athletic. Not just strong in a straight line.
-
Do you train beginners?
Yes. Beginners thrive here because coaching is the point. We simplify movements and progress step by step.
-
Do adults do speed and power work as well?
Absolutely. Adults lose power as quickly as their car keys. We bring it back with kettlebells, sandbags, med balls, and smart explosive training. However, sometimes it will look different than what the sports performance and youth groups do.
-
How do you measure progress?
For athletes: flying 10s, vertical jump, VBT, 5/0/5 change of direction, and more.
For adults: strength markers, aerobic capacity, conditioning benchmarks, and performance trends. -
How long are most sessions
Most sessions run 55 to 60 minutes. Long enough to get meaningful work done. Short enough to fit real life.
-
Why should I trust FIT with my training?
Because we do the work. Years of education, thousands of coached sessions, real coaching, real systems, and real results. No gimmicks. No shortcuts. Just honest training built to last.
