The Only Way To Keep Your Health?
“The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don’t want, drink what you don’t like, and do what you’d rather not.” — Mark Twain
Crazy how Mark Twain had this point of view even in the late 1800s/early 1900s. Way before hyper palatable foods, fast foods, etc. But does it really take an American writer, humorist, entrepreneur, publisher, and lecturer to tell you how to eat and live your life.
I hope not.
The simple fact is this. If you ever want to see considerable changes in your body (fat loss/lean muscle gain/improved capacity/whatever), you need to fuel it accordingly. You can’t go to extremes in either direction.
Truthfully, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. A banana is more nutritious than a piece of coffee cake. Is this a shock?
What’s more interesting is that Twain makes it sound as if the “right” foods to eat aren’t delicious. One would have to assume with that statement that foods of the 1800’s were quite bland. While they didn’t have to battle with the temptation of hyper palatable snack foods/trash foods of today; maybe they did have to battle with the bland, staleness of “healthier” foods of their time.
Either way, today there’s no excuse. You have access to the internet. You can learn literally, whatever you want. To start, learn how to make “healthier” food choices taste better. Then don’t get piss drunk everyday. Lastly, exercise.
I think you’d be shocked with that you find.
